Sydney Part 2 - Sydney Fish Market (SFM)

Click here for Sydney Part 1

Whenever I visit
Sydney, the one place I look forward to stopover is the Sydney Fish Market (SFM).

It offers the unique opportunity to experience a vivacious state-of-the-art working market in the heart of the city, and is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as the world's second largest seafood market in terms of variety outside of Japan.

It auctions over 100 species daily, and trades close to 13,000 tonnes of seafood annually. For that reason, if you are searching for the ultimate seafood experience, combining a vibrant market atmosphere with Sydney's lifestyle, SFM is the place to be.

The seafood galore was kick-started with an order of Seafood Platter consisting of Scallops, Baby Octopus, Squid Rings, Fish and Fries, along with an additional serving of Deep-Fried Calamari.

Raw came next, with items of Green Garden Salad and Oysters – the latter which was so fresh and jolly-good that I could easily finished 2 dozens of them if not for the overflowing of other dishes on the table.

Two huge Steamed Blue Swimmer Crabs were then placed on our table followed by a serving of Deep-Fried Prawns.

Every item was so fresh and looks scrumptious that we simply didn’t know where to begin with – though we were all pretty familiar with the ending – the evil cholesterol that came with it all – Ha!

Hi Anon 09:14,

Hmm... while I enjoyed the crayfish at Kaili's, I have my doubts on Cicerollos - just a tourist trap if you ask me - can easily get better fish & chips or chilli mussels elsewhere.

As for SFM, at least I know I am getting fresh produce - something very important to me when it comes to seafood. :)
