Ah, lazy weekends… unfortunately they don’t happen anywhere near frequently enough. There always seems to be so much on each weekend that the adjective “lazy” can never be applied to them.
However every two months I get away with a dozen friends onto a small island (Bruny) off the coast of our Island (Tasmania). The deal is that we share a large house together and that everyone must participate in cooking at least one meal. So in groups of two or three we try to impress our friends with our culinary creations – and it provides a sensational eating experience.
One of the friends is a wine expert, and she loads up the car with wines to cater for every eventuality, and then one or two others are assigned to snacks duty.
It’s a recipe for waistline distress (but no more than a Starbucks Banana Nut Muffin, I’ll warrant) – but we always manage to get a walk in, or some of the fitter goes for runs along the beautiful beach at Adventure Bay.
The next Bruny trip is 22 to 24 August, so if you’re down this way HFB – or any or his readers – come along!
Hey Steve,
It is always nice to hear from you! How have you been?
Your weekend getaway sounds really cool. All the cooking and wine is making me hungry.
I would really love to visit Tasmania soon - reading from the stuff you write everytime! Unfortunately I am heading to Bangkok that week for a short getaway as well.
You are making me very hungry! Happy WW! :)
Hi ck-ii!
Thanks! You too~
I hope that we can expect some blog entries from the City of Angels, HFB!
Everything great here - and looking forward to arriving in Singapore in 5 weeks and three days (not that I'm counting, mind you!) Hope that you're well HFB. Enjoy the culinary delight that is Bangkok.
Glad that all is going well for you. Oh.. do drop me an email and lets meet up for a meal or two - would love to meet you in person.
You will most definitely be expecting some spicy entries from Bangkok - so do look out for it! ;)
My weekends? Sat is usually sleeping till afternoon! It's like catching up on all the sleep that I miss during the week!
Hmm. Sounds like your weekdays are really busy - busy selling keropok? Hehe.
If only! I have not even eaten keropok for a long time!
Hey! Now that you reminded me, I haven been eating them for awhile as well - LOL!
It just made me hungry. I liked it so much. I think I should try this one right now.
